The Talk of Rugby: RFU combats touts with ticket-exchange service – Telegraph.co.uk

The Rugby Football Union is to launch a ticket-exchange service for England’s matches at Twickenham as part of a crackdown against the reselling of tickets at hugely inflated prices on secondary market sites.

The governing body has set up the online exchange service to prevent the reselling of tickets above their face value on websites such as Viagogo, Stub Hub and Gumtree.

It will allow supporters to resell tickets that are no longer required on the RFU website up to 72 hours before kick-off at face value.

It follows a similar model used during the 2015 World Cup.

The RFU hopes it will increase the opportunity for genuine supporters to avoid exorbitant prices, or to pay for tickets that do not even exist. Supporters have been warned that buying tickets through unofficial websites puts them at risk of fraud or mis-selling and any tickets bought above face value may be cancelled by the RFU…
